Prizes and Awards

Winning a Prix de Lausanne scholarship enables a laureate to gain free access to the finest dance schools or to be accepted without an audition for an apprenticeship with the most renowned ballet companies. It thus opens the door to a year of top-level training and represents a fast track to the start of an international career.

Prix de Lausanne Scholarship

A scholarship of one year's free tuition and the sum of CHF 16'000.- for living expenses during the prize-winner's year of studies at one of the Prix de Lausanne partner schools, chosen by the prize-winner.

Prix de Lausanne Apprentice Scholarship

This prize is reserved for competitors aged 17 or more. It consits in an apprentice scholarship of one year along with CHF 16'000.- for living expenses in one of the Prix de Lausanne partner companies (of recipient's choice).

Prix de Lausanne Contemporary Dance Prize

Rewards the finalist having performed the best contemporary variation at the final. The prize consists in a free contemporary dance summer course (including travel and accomodation) at one of the Prix de Lausanne partner Contemporary Summer schools.

Prize for the Best Swiss Candidate

Awarded to the best Swiss finalist or resident that has been trained in Switzerland for at least three years before the competition.

The Audience favourite

This prize reflects an "instant preference" that the public has felt for one of the finalists on the evening itself. Contrary to the prizes awarded by the jury based on an evaluation system spanning several days, the "Audience favourite" reflects the emotions of the moment. This prize rewards the finalist having earned the most public votes expressed on the ballot papers placed in the dedicated box located in the foyer of the theatre.
